Our Process
Soft wash
Every wood restoration project starts off with a soft wash using special eco friendly cleaners to lift the algae, mold, and mildew up off of the wood. As the wood is rinsed the difference in brightness will be instant, we utilize low pressure rinsing methods only, never allow anyone to pressure wash your deck with high pressure.
Sanding
After the wood has had time to dry we begin the sanding process of the restoration. The main things we are looking to sand off are old stains and paints, as well as algae and mold that was too deep in the wood for the cleaners to get out. And any rough edges are smoothed out as well to prepare the wood for the oil and staining process. This is the most tedious but important step because if it is not done professionally the ugly marks will show up more clearly with oil or sealant.
Staining/Sealing/Painting
Once the sanding is complete and the wood is ready, we go over with you on how you want it to look and what would look best. Now it does vary per customer however the general rule of thumb is to keep the same concept. Meaning if a solid paint was used before we recommend using a solid paint again. Or If a stain was used before or the wood has only been raw then we suggest sticking to a stain. We can always use stains on previously painted wood however it is more expensive as the work is more tedious as every bit of the paint would have to be sanded off.
